First off, apologies for being gone so long.

That said, I had an idea that just struck me like a bolt from the blue as potentially good.

We already have relationships factoring into this game to a degree (for example, members of a family fighting together gain bonuses).  I thought we could expand upon that a little when it came to people fighting against each other as well.

For example, take Goku and Vegeta.  As fierce rivals as they are, neither would want to appear weak to the other.  So if they fight one another, I was thinking they could have faster recovery speed from knockdowns, or something like that.

Or take Goten and Trunks.  Fighting each other is a lot more fun than fighting anyone else.  So when they spar, I was thinking they could have a faster ki recharge rate, to show how excited they are.

Stuff like that.  Thoughts?

Nice idea.. though i dont know how it could be implemented.
Perhaps those could be just be capsules. and a bit Generic.
Like.

Rivalry (Goku)
Boosts Ki recovery rate when fighting against a Major Enemy (Vegeta, Frieza, Cell, Buu, etc)

Or something like that.

Maybe make it an option you can turn on or off in the options menu.

Or perhaps the capsules that increase your stats when fighting alongside certain characters should also have an effect when you fight that same character?

Also, how many rivals should someone be allowed to have?  Should there be a limit?  (Not counting Goku, what with him being the main character and all) And should we find at least one rival for everyone?

Good point, with all these rivalries we'll have 1000 capsules based on these....hmmmmm Huh thinking

Let's not do capsules.

Just do it automatically.  We simply program it in.

Let's say I fire up the game.  The first thing I do, as a big fan of them both, is start a Trunks and Goten duel, at the beginning (just before FIGHT!) the screen displays a message, something like "Best Friends: Ki Recharge +10%" (or whatever we go with).  So that way I know 1) that I triggered it, 2) what I triggered, and 3) why it got triggered (they're best friends).  So then I begin poking around to discover other combinations.

And if I don't like this, I go to the Options menu and disable it.

Thoughts?

I don't think it's really something to switch on and off in the menu, though there must be a better way to make them capsules.

Otherwise our whole support capsule system that makes our stats increase while fighting with allies would then not be needed.

Perhaps it would be 1 generic capsule that anybody could use and it be triggered by different enemies for different characters?

Or in our database we could have another header under support or something and call it Rivalries.

No I think it'd be better in the character list.

Problem is though that we already have a lot in the character list, not to mention the word limits on each post so we might run into trouble with that by just adding more and more to the character lists.
